Finland: The radio-controlled shunting Tandem DER 150 was launched to move trains being loaded with iron sulphate on a 500 m track section, which connects a loading hall and a main line.
The section has several installed repeaters for a better signal.
The Tandem DER 150, supplied by the German company, is fitted with an engine that meets the Stage V standard. Having a continuous tractive effort of 150 kN, the shunting robot can pull up to 2,000 t of weight at a speed of 1.8 km/h. The Tandem DER 150 has a 22 kW hydraulic unit to open and close the lockable roofs of cars during freight operations and an automatic sanding system to increase the friction of the leading drive axles in the event of slippage.
