Uzbekistan: This is what Zufar Narzullaev, chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari, said in his interview with the O’zbekiston 24 TV channel.
According to him, the contract will be signed by order of the country’s president Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Mr Narzullaev has clarified that the shunting diesel locomotive fleet has depreciated by 91%, with old TEM2 and ChME3 locomotives forming its basis.
China has been supplying the country with locomotives for over 20 years. The current contract with CRRC covers the delivery of 38 electric and diesel freight and passenger locomotives and shunting locomotives and refurbishment of 12 electric freight/passenger locomotives. Mr Narzullaev highlighted that this year the national operator expects to receive eight diesel and four electric locomotives this year.
CRRC is actively expanding into the 1,520 mm gauge market. Recently, the producer received orders for mainline and shunting locomotives for Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
