UK: On 20 April, the 08e locomotive was put in operation at the Whatley limestone quarry, which is owned by the British subsidiary of the German building company Heidelberg Materials.
In autumn 2023, the Positive Traction start-up completed the conversion of the 08 diesel shunter, produced by local Derby Works back in 1958. Then the vehicle was undergoing operational testing.

The shunting locomotive was fitted with six PT Powerpod battery modules of 600 kWh in total, ensuring eight hours of continuous operation and a 50% increase in traction effort. The prototype’s power output is 330 kW against the 261 kW of the original diesel version of the vehicle.

The conducted overhaul included improvements to the visibility of the driver’s cab and the installation of light and signal equipment alongside the systems for condition monitoring and remote control. Meanwhile, the authentic control panel, frames, traction motors and buffer beams have been preserved.
