Turkiye: The locomotive was presented at the state-owned TÜRASAŞ plant in Eskişehir.
According to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, now E5000 is tested for compliance with TSI. The country plans to produce 500 such locomotives over the next 10 years. As Türasaş CEO Mustafa Metin Yazar earlier said, 20 of them are expected by the end of 2024.

By order of the national operator TCDD, the locomotive was developed by TÜBİTAK RUTE, a railway technology institute. Yazar states the achieved level of localisation is 60%. The announced list of domestic parts and components includes a 5 MW engine, auxiliary power unit, traction converter, transformer, body, bogies, and control systems. The expected maximum speed of the Bo-Bo vehicle is 140 km/h.
Turkiye actively relies on the national production of rolling stock. In December 2022, the first domestically-developed locomotive diesel engine was presented in the country.
