Türkiye: This was announced by the country’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.
The plan involves a modular platform with three-axle bogies available in both electric and diesel versions. These locomotives are set to be Türkiye’s most powerful: the electric locomotive will deliver 7,200 kW, while the diesel version will have 2,760 kW.

Currently, the Turkish manufacturer has completed the concept development and preliminary design stages. The new platform will share standardised components with the previously developed the E5000 electric locomotive, which is expected to speed up production and reduce costs for manufacturing and maintenance.

Türkiye is pursuing a steady strategy to nationalise its railway engineering sector. Türasaş, the state rolling stock manufacturer, in cooperation with TÜBİTAK RUTE technology institute, has developed and is serially producing the E5000 electric locomotives, as well as urban and regional electric multiple units. Additionally, a high-speed train capable of 225 km/h is under development.
