Russia: The handover ceremony, where Russian Railways (RZD) accepted the passenger locomotive, took place at the TMH plant in Kolomna and was dedicated to the 155th anniversary marking the site’s launching its first steam locomotive, as reported by Gudok.

Being the 500th vehicle of the series, the locomotive was painted into the jubilee livery. This year, RZD plans to purchase 24 EP2K electric locomotives.

The locomotive’s exterior design was renewed according to the manufacturer’s Brand DNA concept, which has been applied to the mainline ES5K and TE28 locomotives and other vehicles since 2020. TMH’s Brand DNA has won a number of international design awards.

The EP2K electric locomotive powered by DC catenary was first manufactured in 2005, and its serial production started in 2008. The vehicle replaced Czechoslovakian locomotives of various series, formerly delivered to Russia.
