New Zealand: The first two vehicles were loaded onto a ship in a Spanish port in August this year. They are expected to arrive at the Port of Lyttelton in New Zealand in mid-October for delivery to KiwiRail.

Six-axle double-cab DM class diesel locomotives can reach 100 km/h on 1,067 mm gauge tracks. Powered by Caterpillar Stage V-compliant engines with an installed diesel power of 3000 kW, they develop a starting tractive effort of 415 kN. The locomotives are equipped with an automatic engine start-stop system to reduce fuel consumption and monitoring equipment to support predictive maintenance.

The locomotives are delivered under the contract signed between KiwiRail and Stadler for 57 vehicles. Last February, the operator placed another order with the Swiss manufacturer, this time for nine mainline diesel locomotives and 25 hybrid shunting locomotives.
