Poland: The first in the line electric locomotive, powered by DC, was unveiled by Pesa at TRAKO Fair in Gdansk. The four-axle vehicle was designated 304E and is designed for 160 km/h.
The presented livery unveils that the platform will introduce different modifications: a hybrid one, powered by diesel or HVO and catenary, an MS variant, as well as units, powered by diesel or a battery power module to cover the so-called last mile. There also will be modifications designed for 200–300 km/h.

Pesa says that compared to first-generation Gama units, the new locomotives will be less expensive in operation due to higher level of standardisation, improved access to assembly units and an intelligent diagnostic system. Currently, five 304E electric locomotives were ordered by the leasing company Rail Capital Partners and 16 hybrid units by the passenger operator PKP Intercity. The first vehicles have been already assembled, with their testing scheduled to begin before year-end.
