Namibia: This is the first such project in Africa. Its first stage includes the conversion of two GE diesel locomotives of TransNamib’s fleet to dual-fuel combustion of diesel and hydrogen.
USA: The operator and the ZTR company announced a partnership to convert the old diesel locomotive to hybrid diesel-battery traction. The prototype is expected to be released at the end of 2023.
Germany: Alstom, CRRC, Siemens Mobility, Stadler and a number of other market players presented their locomotives at the InnoTrans exhibition in Berlin. Moreover, Siemens and Alstom announced new rolling stock orders.
South Africa: A new tender is planned to be announced. This became possible after a court decision to suspend the contracts for the supply of 1,064 locomotives, concluded in 2014.

USA: Wabtec and the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy national railway operator signed a memorandum of understanding for the prospective delivery of 150 battery shunters, as well as on the mainline fleet overhauling for LNG traction.
Bulgaria: The only locomotive manufacturer in the country specializing in small shunters is building a new workshop with an area of about 4,000 m2 for the development of overhaul competencies.
Thailand: The EA energy company has received the first battery-powered vehicle from a manufacturer. This is the second export delivery of battery-powered locomotives for CRRC.
Russia: Manufacturers are approved to receive 8 loans from the state Industrial Development Fund to develop the previously imported components and to increase production.
