India: The body-on-frame MG Majestor road-rail car has pulled a 406 t train, consisting of the WAG-9HC electric locomotive and seven coaches, over a distance of 100 m.
The feat has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the “heaviest train pulled by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) on rail”. The automobile’s weight is not unveiled, while a serial MG Majestor is reported to have a gross weight of more than three tonnes. It should be noted that the record was set on a railway with no slopes.

The automobile is produced by JSW MG Motor (located in Halol, India), which is a joint venture of the local company JSW Group and Chinese SAIC Motor. The manufacturer claims that the vehicle used for the attempt was a serial MG Majestor with no special modifications. The SUV features a diesel engine of 158 kW and 8-speed automatic transmission. The record traction has been achieved through full locking of differentials, regulating the tyre pressure, and using a crawl control system.
