Kazakhstan: The centre will be located at the locomotive depot at the Kokshetau station. The plans include maintenance and repair of a fleet of 21 TEM11A shunting diesel locomotives of the freight transportation branch in the Akmola region of the national operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ).

The whole range of scheduled maintenance work will be available at the centre, Alexander Arkhipov, the depot’s senior foreman, told the KTZ media. With 17 specialists, the centre will have all the necessary infrastructure to carry out this work, including a wheelset milling machine.

Wabtec, USA, builds the TEM11A locomotives at its plant in Astana, LKZ. These locomotives are reported to require maintenance every 184 days. In February 2024, KTZ announced that it had secured the supply of 18 such locomotives by 2029, while another agreement between these parties provided for the supply of up to 300 TEM11As.
