?? PKP Intercity has announced its largest-ever tender, worth PLN 17 bln (€3.9 bln), for up to 72 double-decker EMUs. The firm part, worth PLN 10 bln (€2.3 bln), includes the delivery of 42 trains and their 30-year maintenance. Deliveries are expected to take place within 6.5 years of the contract being signed. The new dual-system trains will have a maximum speed of at least 200 km/h and a passenger capacity of around 500.

?? ?? Progress Rail has been awarded a contract for 27 diesel locomotives for use on the rail link under construction between the UAE and Oman. The rolling stock has been ordered by a joint venture between the national operators of both countries, Etihad Rail and Oman Rail. The 3.2 MW SD70ACS diesel locomotives will be designed to operate in hot climate and desert conditions.

?? The operator MOB buys six narrow-gauge locomotives from Stadler. Four of them will be used to haul the GoldenPass Express tourist train in the Alps. The four-axle 3 MW electric locomotives are said to be capable of developing speeds of up to 100 km/h. Another two locomotives will be used for infrastructure maintenance, running on catenary and biodiesel.

?? PKP Intercity has received the first of 46 Griffin EU160 single-system electric locomotives, designed for a speed of 160 km/h, ordered from Newag in 2023. The order is worth PLN 1.2 bln (€272.3 mln). The first locomotive is expected to enter service by the end of the year.

?? The country has received a €100 mln loan from the Nordic Investment Bank to purchase 15 FLIRT trains from Stadler. A similar amount has been loaned by the European Investment Bank. The trains, worth €226.5 mln, will be delivered to the passenger operator LTG Link in 2025–2027 under a contract signed in summer 2023.
