Contracts and deals in the rolling stock markets.

Czech Republic — RegioJet has taken delivery of its third CRRC Sirius EMU. The train will soon be put into service on the Kolín–Ústí nad Labem line, where the first two trains are already in operation. In 2024, the Czech private operator agreed to lease the three trains from the Chinese manufacturer for five years. The trains then underwent extensive testing, trial operation and certification in Czechia.

Thailand— The state railway operator SRT is procuring 184 diesel coaches, half of them being with driver’s cabin. All the coaches will be equipped with traction batteries. If the government approves the THB 24.1 bln ($710 mln) purchase, the tender may be completed in 2026 with the deliveries expected by 2030. Earlier, SRT unveiled a plan to buy 182 coaches.

Poland — This year, PKP Intercity expects 38 locomotives and 119 modernised passenger coaches this year. The deliveries are part of contracts signed with Polish manufacturers in previous years. For example, 46 single-system and 63 multi-system electric locomotives were ordered from Newag between 2023 and 2024. The train building companies FPS and Remtrak, a subsidiary of PKP Intercity, also refurbish passenger coaches of PKP Intercity.

Argentina — The national operator Trenes Argentinos is again buying diesel locomotives from CRRC. Three new locomotives will be used on the San Martin commuter line in the Greater Buenos Aires. The last time Chinese locomotives were supplied to Argentina was in the first half of the 2010s, but China refused to provide maintenance services, so Russia’s TMH took over.

Hungary — The national operator MAV continues to buy locomotives from Siemens Mobility, with three Vectron AC locomotives leased from ELL. Earlier, Hungary’s political rift with Germany and lack of funds did not allow the framework agreement for 115 Vectron locomotives signed with the German manufacturer in 2022 to be implemented. This year, MAV plans to lease used Siemens ES64U2s, Alstom Astrides and Henschel TMes. With the new deliveries, its locomotive fleet will reach 55 units.
