EU — The leasing company Northrail is to receive €270 mln for the purchase of more than 100 locomotives. The funds will allow it to order additional vehicles under existing framework agreements with Alstom, Siemens Mobility and Vossloh Rolling Stock, a CRRC subsidiary.

Czech Republic — CZ Loko will refurbish up to 50 diesel shunting locomotives for the local operator CD Cargo. The four-axle 742 series locomotives, built by ČKD Praha between 1977 and 1986, will receive a new bonnet, cab, traction generator, and a 1,000 kW Caterpillar 3508C diesel engine. A framework agreement, worth CZK 3 bln (approximately €120 mln) provides for the delivery of vehicles, to be upgraded to the EffiShunter 1000M standard, in 2025–2027. Under the same project, CZ Loko has already refurbished 75 locomotives for CD Cargo.

Poland — Newag will supply a further 12 Dragon 2 electric locomotives to the Polish freight operator Olavion. The order, worth PLN 224.6 mln ($53 mln), is made as part of the final option of a 2023 contract for the delivery of up to 20 units. The first four locomotives are already in service.
Slovakia — The national railway company ZSSK is preparing to announce a tender for 10 to 20 hybrid locomotives, with a maximum speed of 160 km/h on 25 kV AC overhead lines and 120 km/h on diesel. Hybrid locomotives with similar characteristics are currently produced by Siemens Mobility and Pesa.

Chile, Guinea — Wabtec has inked contracts to supply locomotives to Chile and Guinea. The Chilean logistics company TRANSAP expects to receive four six-axle C30ACi diesel vehicles by 2026, and the WCS consortium, which specialises in developing an iron ore deposit in the central Africa, has ordered an undisclosed number of ES43ACmi diesel locomotives worth $248 mln. Previously, another company involved in the same project ordered similar locomotives.
