Finland — Siemens Mobility has handed over the final three of 80 Class Sr3 electric locomotives to the national operator VR. Deliveries under the €300 mln contract have been running since 2016. The Vectron-platform machines are fitted with a last-mile diesel module and adapted for Finnish conditions: 1,524 mm broad gauge, operation in temperatures as low as –40°C, and reinforced protection against snow ingress and moose collisions.

Bangladesh — The country plans to procure 60 metre-gauge diesel locomotives, financed through international loans: 30 units backed by the Beijing-based Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and 30 more under a previously announced arrangement with the Asian Development Bank. The AIIB-financed batch is valued at $240 mln, of which $165 mln will come from the bank, with the balance from the state budget. Delivery is scheduled for 2029. In recent years state operator Bangladesh Railway has acquired 40 broad-gauge diesel locomotives from US-based Progress Rail and 30 metre-gauge units from South Korea’s Hyundai Rotem, the latter built under licence from Progress Rail.

Poland — CZ Loko has won a tender to supply 18 shunting diesel locomotives to the passenger operator PKP Intercity. The Czech firm bid €64.2 mln including VAT, against €91 mln from Polish rival Pesa. Under the tender, each four-axle locomotive must have a 550 kW Stage V diesel engine, deliver at least 220 kN of tractive effort and reach 100 km/h. The specifications match CZ Loko’s EffiShunter 600. In 2022–2023 PKP Intercity took delivery of 10 smaller two-axle EffiShunter 300 units from the same Czech manufacturer.
Australia — Martinus Group has ordered 1,067 mm narrow-gauge diesel locomotives from CRRC, though the number of units and technical parameters have not been disclosed. Martinus is primarily a rail infrastructure contractor; with the new fleet it plans to enter Queensland’s freight haulage market. CRRC has previously supplied six-axle diesel locomotives to Australian operators on both 1,435 mm and 1,067 mm gauges.

Uzbekistan — Sinara Transport Machines (STM) is to deliver three TEM9 shunting diesel locomotives to the country. The locomotives are destined for industrial customers, who have not been named. Uzbek operators have previously procured TEM9 and TEM14 shunters built by STM’s Lyudinovo Diesel Locomotive Plant.
