Latest deals and contracts on the locomotive market.

Poland — Alstom and the leasing company OnTrain have signed two contracts for the supply of up to 60 multi-system electric locomotives Traxx Universal. The firm part includes the procurement of 40 vehicles. The bodies of the locomotives will be manufactured at the Wrocław facility, Poland, with the final assembly to be performed at the Kassel site in Germany.

Lithuania — Stadler will fulfil its first order for Lithuania. The Swiss manufacturer has signed a contract with the Lithuanian freight operator LTG Cargo for the delivery of 17 electric locomotives. The agreement has an option for another 17 vehicles and three years of maintenance. The procurement provides for the freight six-axle Eurodual AC electric locomotives of 6.1 MW.

Germany — The transport company Netinera (part of the Italian national railway holding company FS Group) has called off the procurement of 40 hybrid locomotives after no bids were received. The expected mainline locomotives were to be powered by diesel engines and catenary.

Switzerland — The regional operators RhB and MGBahn, which provide service for the narrow-gauge 1,000 mm network, have ordered 11 hybrid locomotives from Stadler at a cost of €106.3 mln. The ordered four-axle locomotives with an individual drive for each axle will be capable of running on both overhead electric lines and diesel engines. The new rolling stock will be manufactured at the Bussnang plant, Switzerland.
