Alstom has won a contract with two local operators, go.Rheinland and VRR, for the supply of up to 90 EMUs for the S-Bahn in Cologne. In addition to the 9- and 11-car Adessia Stream trains, the deal, worth over €4 bln, includes a 34-year maintenance agreement. The trains, which have a maximum speed of 140 km/h, can accommodate 1,150 and 1,340 passengers, respectively. The contract is expected to be finalised in the second half of the year, with the assembly to be conducted in Bautzen and launch scheduled for 2029–2032.
The country government has approved financing for the purchase of 40 locomotives and 300 passenger coaches for the state-owned passenger operator VIA Rail, according to the Minister of Transport Pablo Rodriguez. VIA Rail will be issuing a request for proposals shortly, with deliveries expected to commence after 2030. The majority of the current operator’s fleet comprises passenger coaches produced between 1947 and 1955.

FPS has secured a contract with the national operator PKP Intercity for the supply of up to 450 passenger coaches. This follows the tender completed in March. The firm order for 300 coaches is valued at PLN 4.2 bln (€972.3 mln), while the option for 150 coaches is valued at PLN 2.1 bln (€494.1 mln). The rolling stock is scheduled for deliverery between 2026 and 2028. PKP Intercity has announced a request for proposals for an additional 395 coaches.

The locally based Wabtec subsidiary, Locomotive Kurastyru Zauyty, has delivered two additional TEM11A shunting diesel locomotives. The customer, Kazakhstan Temir Zoly, will operate the vehicles on the Zhanaesil–Saumalkol and Zhanaesil–Zernovaya routes. By the end of the year, the national operator anticipates the total delivery of 21 TEM11As.
