Mozambique: At the end of April, a ceremony was held to inaugurate three passenger locomotives at the main station in the country’s capital. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Transport and Logistics, João Matlombe. The investments of the state-owned Mozambique Ports and Railways, CFM, in the project amount to MZM 422.4 ($6.6 mln).
According to CRRC, the development, production and delivery of the diesel locomotives took 100 days. The six-axle 1,620 kW SDD1 locomotives are designed for lines with a 1,067 mm track gauge. The vehicles have been adapted to the African climate and feature an intelligent control system designed to enhance reliability and safety.
