China: By the end of the year, the Chinese steel maker Xinjiang Ba Yi Iron and Steel is going to receive a batch of ten CN10A-C shunters manufactured at the Dalian plant.

Equipped with 1 MW lithium iron phosphate battery pack, the modular locomotives are constructed from standard replaceable equipment blocks.

The liquid-cooled fast charging technology, reported to have been designed specifically for these locomotives, ensures a full recharge in 70 minutes. While the installed system of cameras provides better visibility for the driver, the vehicles are additionally equipped with intelligent ATO allowing for unmanned performing of some operations.

CRRC has been producing battery shunters since 2020, with the highest-capacity vehicle (featuring a power unit of 1.5 MW) unveiled in autumn 2023. The company’s portfolio also boasts mainline battery and catenary-battery locomotives.
