China: The TE36A locomotive was manufactured in Dalian, China, on the order of the national operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ).
The first two diesel locomotives are to be delivered to Kazakhstan in December, followed by securing approval. China had supplied mainline diesel locomotives to Kazakhstan before the unified TR CU 001/2011 certification came into force.
This model was designed by CRRC exclusively for KTZ based on of the Fuxing platform. The six-axle (Со-Со) TE36A diesel locomotive is fitted with a 12-cylinder 3.5 MW 12V265C engine and is reported to have a fuel consumption of 198 g/kW·h and a maximum speed of 120 km/h.

The agreement between CRRC and KTZ was signed in 2023. It envisages the supply of 100 mainline and 100 shunting locomotives as well as the establishment of engineering and service centres in Kazakhstan. The deliveries of the CKD6S shunting vehicles began this summer.
