Kazakhstan: The CEA1 series locomotive is manufactured in Zhuzhou by order of TTT Service, a subsidiary of the private operator SilkwayTransit. The electric locomotive was delivered to Kazakhstan in the end of April and is to undergo testing to obtain a TR CU 001/2011 certificate.
Fitted with a 7.2 MW motor, the six-axle Co-Co vehicle is said to be able to operate at temperatures from –50°C to +50°C, with its maximum speed reaching 120 km/h.
Signed against a halt in the deliveries of 2ES7 electric locomotives from Russia, the contract envisages the supply of ten locomotives from China. It was previously reported that CRRC and SilkwayTransit plan to establish a locomotive assembly facility in Kazakhstan.

The CEA1 locomotive is not the first Chinese electric locomotive in the EAEU. For example, CNR, which became part of CRRC in 2015, supplied 12 freight locomotives BKG1 to Belarus in 2012. In the 1,520 mm gauge market, Chinese locomotives are also actively delivered to Uzbekistan.
