Kazakhstan: The six-axle CKD6H shunter has rolled off the production line at the Chinese manufacturer’s plant in Ziyang.
In June, the vehicle is to arrive in Kazakhstan to pass the TR CU 001/2011 certification. CRRC is delivering the rolling stock under the contract with the national operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) for 200 mainline and shunting locomotives.
The CKD6H locomotive is powered by lithium-iron-phosphate batteries and a diesel engine compliant with the Stage IIIA emission standard. The implemented technologies in combination with an intelligent control system will reportedly reduce fuel consumption by over 45%, emissions from 45 to 83%, and a noise level by 80% in comparison with KTZ’s current fleet.

As announced, it has taken 14 months to produce the CKD6H, which is based on CRRC’s new platform unveiled in 2024. Specifically for Kazakhstan, the manufacturer has customised the rolling stock to enable it to operate at low temperatures down to -50°C.
