Chile: The shunting locomotive was delivered to the narrow-gauge railway operator FCAB for use on the routes between the port of Antofagasta and Bolivian mining companies.
The locomotive, which was ordered in November 2022, differs in appearance from the vehicle CRRC revealed last October as a designated one for the operator.

The locomotive has been designed to haul trainsets weighing up to 1,000 t at distances of approximately 400 km, utilising the power of either a 400 kW hydrogen cell unit or 600 kW batteries. CRRC has also equipped the locomotive with a gas detection and shut-off system. The vehicle is designed for operation in an environment that includes salt fog and sandstorms.

The commercial service of the locomotive is expected to commence in the second half of the year. Its delivery marks the operator’s plans to cease utilising diesel traction. Now FCAB operates 83 locomotives produced by American companies EMD and GE.
