Uzbekistan: The two-section O’Z12T locomotive produced at the Zhuzhou plant was presented at Navoi station. By the end of the year, Uzbekistan plans to receive an additional seven diesel locomotives and four electric locomotives, two of them new and two retrofitted ones.
As reported, the O’Z12T locomotive with a power capacity of 7.2 MW can haul up to 7,000 tonnes at a maximum speed of 120 km/h. Its 16-cylinder engine has fuel consumption of up to 200 g/kWh. The vehicle is equipped with an automatic, pneumatic and electric braking system.
Since 2003, CRRC Zhuzhou has supplied the national operator Uzbekistan Temir Yollari with 27 electric locomotives, the O’zbekiston and the O’Z-Y models. In addition, CRRC’s plant in Dalian has so far delivered 42 electric locomotives of the series O’ZEL and 2O’ZELR.
Under the contract with a deadline in 2033, the Chinese manufacturer is to produce 38 freight and passenger electric locomotives, diesel locomotives and shunters, as well as refurbish 12 freight and passenger electric locomotives for Uzbekistan.
