Canada: The locomotive has entered service together with double-deck passenger coaches on the Saint-Jérôme line.
The operator Exo, which serves the Greater Montréal area, has already received four such units. The remaining six are to be delivered from the factory in Sacramento, USA, over the coming months.

The new rolling stock is expected to replace the F59PH locomotives, built by US manufacturer EMD more than 35 years ago, by October next year. Compared with them, the Siemens Mobility locomotives can haul ten passenger coaches instead of eight. In addition, they are fitted with diesel engines compliant with Tier 4 emission standards.

A contract for the supply of ten Charger EC-42 locomotives was signed in June. Back in 2022, Exo had already ordered a similar batch of locomotives of this platform from Siemens Mobility. In addition, in 2018 passenger operator VIA Rail Canada ordered Charger units to form 32 push-pull trains.
