Brazil: The Autonomous Track Geometry Measurement System (ATGMS) has been installed on the BB40-9WM locomotive by the developer, ENSCO Rail from USA. Built by GE in the early 2010s, the vehicle now transports ore on the VALE EFVM narrow-gauge network of the Brazilian iron ore mining business.

The ATGMS uses an on-board module with sensors, measuring instruments and processing facilities to collect data, which is then sent to a cloud server via mobile communications.

Vale has reportedly installed other ENSCO Rail solutions such as AMA and V/TI, a predictive analysis system that monitors the component condition.

A similar autonomous measurement system has also been implemented in Russia in 2023. The Infotrans solution monitors station infrastructure and can also be installed on shunting locomotives.
