Belarus: In Gomel, during the launch ceremony of the TEM18DM shunting locomotive from TMH, Valery Verenich, Head of Belarusian Railway, revealed the plans to purchase 10 mainline freight and 15 shunting diesel locomotives, as well as 10 EMUs and DMUs.

The shunters for Belarusian Railway are to be procured from TMH. As indicated by Mr. Verenich, last year the TEM18DM locomotive’s test operation on the Republic’s railways was successfully finished, and it was consequently decided to buy 25 such vehicles in 2024-2025.

Alexei Lyakhnovich, Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus, has earlier announced that it is planned to launch SKD assembly of multiple units in cooperation with Russia. Back in 2023, it was also noted that over 90 diesel trains and 53 electric trains would be required to renew Belarusian Railway’s fleet within 10 or 11 years.
