Türkiye: The announcement was made by Turkish Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu at the manufacturer’s site in Sivas. He confirmed the completion of the static tests of the new UAIS flatcar. Following the installation of a braking system, dynamic tests are scheduled to commence.
At this stage, only one parameter has been revealed: the tare weight of 24.5 t. As soon as the tests are completed, the flatcar will be granted a certificate of compliance with European TSI requirements. The vehicle is scheduled to become operational in 2025.
According to the Minister, the primary function of the UAIS flatcar is transportation of military machinery by the Turkish Armed Forces. The vehicles can also be used during NATO military missions outside the country.
Twist locks enable using the flatcar also for civilian purposes, so the national operator TCDD would be able to transport 40- and 45-foot containers.
