USA: The start-up Intramotev and the mining company Carmeuse are implementing a joint project at a limestone mine in Cedarville, Michigan.
A remote-controlled coupling of two dump cars, one of which is equipped with battery traction and computer vision, has replaced a diesel locomotive. The project is estimated to save 208,000 l of diesel fuel and prevent 617 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Previously, Intramotev received $14.4 mln in investment to further develop its TugVolt and ReVolt battery traction technology. Now, these are now being deployed on private networks of mining companies. In August, Intramotev showcased a self-propelled flatcar capable of hauling up to five freight cars, providing first and last mile services.
