Kazakhstan: First gondola cars and flatcars with an axle load of 23.5 tf have been produced at the Atyrau Wagon Factory (AWF). The vehicles are going to be certified now.

It was announced in 2023 that a car-manufacturing plant would be built in Atyrau. The current production area is 17,000 m², and more than 70 employees are engaged in the process.

Further, tank cars and articulated container flatcars with 25 tf bogies will be also produced at AWF. By 2027, it is planned to reach a design capacity between 6,000 and 7,000 cars per year, while the production facilities are to be enlarged up to 62,000 m² and staff members to increase up to 2,700 people.

According to TEXOL, locally produced components will be used to manufacture freight cars. Thus, metal structures are to be supplied by Qarmet, bearings by local Brenco, wheels and axles by Prommashkomplekt. Besides, TEXOL is going to develop its own foundry and production of components. Total investments will amount to more than KZT 160 bln ($336.9 mln).
