Sweden: A batch of 23 such wagons of the Side Loader XL model has been in operation for nearly three years by Swedish pulp producer Södra Cell Värö. The video shows the process of loading paper bales at the Värö facility.

The four-axle Side Loader XL is equipped with 20 m lifting side walls on each side. The unique feature of the design is the vertical lifting of the side walls, providing unobstructed access along the full length of the wagon for forklifts. This eliminates the limitations typical of traditional sliding doors or support posts.

The side wall opening process is controlled remotely via radio, allowing simultaneous loading or unloading of an entire trainset. The original specification required reliable protection of the cargo from weather conditions, so the wagon frame is made of steel with a truss structure, and the exterior surface is covered with tarpaulin.

Engineers of the Swedish freight car manufacturer managed to retain the standard wagon length, increasing its payload capacity by 25%, so the total loading area is 51 m², and the mass of the transported cargo reaches around 51 t.
