Ukraine: Sergii Tigipko, the company’s owner, has announced the news to local media, adding that a site of 10,000 m2 has been purchased in Kovel (the region of Volyn, Ukraine) for this purpose.
Currently, repair works and construction of an in-house track with a gauge of 1,435 mm are undertaken at the site, which is expected to start operation in September. A total of UAH 200 mln (€4.2 mln) has been reportedly invested into the project. The facility is going to annually produce 1,200 wagons certified for the EU.
The TAS Group owns the plant Dniprovagonmash, located in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Last year, 602 freight cars were produced there (a 59.2% increase in comparison with 2023 results), while the plant’s production capacity allows for an annual output of 9,000 wagons. The products are mainly exported to the EU countries. Since 2023, Dniprovagonmash has been serially manufacturing freight cars of the joint venture TransANT (Austria). Meanwhile, in 2024, the TAS Group became the majority shareholder of the Austrian company.
