Russia: According to the car builder itself, the production of freight cars in 2024 could be 18% higher than in 2023.
Taking into account ROLLINGSTOCK’S data on the 2023 production (10,600 cars) and the announced growth rate, the figures expected this year are expected to be 12,500 units.
The vehicles most in demand, as RM Rail says, are hoppers, tank cars for oil products, and gondola cars. Production of cars with a 25 tf axle load proprietary bogie is reported to be increasing, but no information is available on their number.
ROLLINGSTOCK’s estimates suppose that the forecast figures for 2024 will be a record for RM Rail, stemming from the expanded production of gondola cars, which are less technically complex. The 2024 results will allow the company to maintain its second place in the Russian market in terms of production volume, behind only the United Wagon Company. At the same time, its diversified production line makes it the country’s leading manufacturer of rolling stock.
The car builder has stepped up its innovation activities in recent years, with more than 130 patents obtained in 2023. Now its website shows a similar number of patents received this year. In the ROLLINSTOCK revenue ranking, RM Rail is fourth among other Russian rolling stock producers.
