USA: The start-up, previously Parallel Systems, has unveiled a speeded-up video of the autonomous vehicles running on a temporarily isolated short section of the US operator Genesee and Wyoming’s low-traffic line in Georgia.
The tests, conducted since May under the supervision of the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), are aimed at checking the work of empty cars and their computer and telemetry systems, as well as assessing the commercial viability of the new technology.

The vehicles represent two platooning two-axle bogies with battery traction and a driverless control system. The FRA-approved testing programme on G&W’s lines consists of seven phases. The final phase is expected to evaluate the assembling of self-propelled cars into platoons and the transporting of revenue containers on a 257.5 km line.
