India: The company has announced the commencement of construction work on the Kolkata plant this month.
The site is being established as a joint venture with Texmaco Rail, a prominent Indian car-builder. Petr Vlček, Nymwag CEO, provided further insight into the project in an interview with Railmarket News. The plant with a annual design output of 2,500 cars is planned to produce four types of freight cars: flatcars, tank cars, hoppers, and gondola cars.
Mr. Vlček has revealed that the company is currently in negotiations with Uzbekistan and Georgia with a view to establishing car-building facilities in these countries. In June, In June, the investment holding AZC Orbis Invest (owns Nymwag) signed a memorandum of understanding with the oil and gas company Saneg and the special industrial zone Gallaaral. There is no evidence that such steps have been taken in Georgia.
Nymwag was established in 2019 and specialises in the production of tank cars, hoppers, container flatcars, and bogies. The company’s production facility is located in Nymburk, Czechia. To date, Nymwag has already produced 3,000 freight cars, with 1,100 of them last year. Its production activities generated income of almost €120 mln and operating revenue of €6.3 mln. Mr. Vlček estimates that orders fulfilled next year will utilise about 50–55% of the production capacity.
