Uzbekistan: The oil and gas company Saneg, the special industrial zone Gallaaral and the investment holding AZC Orbis Invest have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a freight car factory.
AZС Orbis, headquartered in Slovakia, is a global investor with a presence in Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Croatia and other countries. The holding also owns Nymwag, while its executive director, Robert Spisak, is the president of the supervisory board of the Czech car builder.
The memorandum outlines the establishment of production facilities with an annual output of about 2,000 railcars, including tank cars, hoppers, gondola cars, and box cars. LogiStan has reported that production is scheduled to begin in 2026.
“The freight car factory would be beneficial for the logistic infrastructure, enhancing efficiency of transport operations”, noticed Tulkin Yusupov, Saneg CEO. As of the end of 2023, the Uzbek freight car fleet numbered almost 28,000 vehicles.
Nymwag was established in 2019 and specialises in the production of tank cars, hoppers, container flatcars, and bogies. The company’s production facility is located in Nymburk, Czechia. Nymwag has already produced 3,000 freight cars and plans to build 1,100 vehicles this year.
The car builder has also entered the Indian market. In 2023, a joint venture was established with Texmaco Rail, a leading local freight car producer. The new company plans to establish production in Kolkata.
