Austria: The first two prototype freight cars with modular bodies were delivered to the steelworks voestalpine early in June.

First, they will undergo internal testing within the company’s operations and then will be deployed on the main lines in Austria and Germany by the end of the year.

The TransANT’s modular bodies are designed to be removable, allow for a quick change and are installed on a unified platform, which is available in different lengths (between 33 ft and 70 ft). Being made of special steel, the bodies are said to have a 30% increased payload, when compared with cars for scrap metal by other manufacturers.

The TransANT cars have been produced in Austria since 2018. The enterprise is owned by voestalpine, the Austrian freight operator RCG and the Ukrainian TAS Group, which holds a controlling interest in TransANT. In 2023, the TransANT cars started to be manufactured at the Dniprovagonmash plant, part of the Group.
