Germany: The Polish company and Hansebahn Bremen GmbH (HBB), a joint venture between rail logistics expert Captrain Deutschland and steel company ArcelorMittal Bremen, have launched BREMAG – Bremen Magnetic Shuttle.
This joint project will be implemented on the 100 km rail infrastructure of a plant in Bremen. It will use MagRail Booster technology to retrofit this infrastructure and railcars to automate the transport of steel coils without the need for locomotives. Full automation is expected to be achieved within three years. The €6 mln project is funded by federal programmes.

Nevomo’s MagRail Booster technology integrates linear motor technology into the existing rail infrastructure. The active linear motor stator is installed on the track centreline, while the motor itself with magnets is located on the bogies. The solution will reportedly allow automatic coupling and uncoupling and is compatible with existing rail infrastructure. The other current project of the Polish company is dedicated to magnetic levitation technology.
