According to the company’s representative, Belarusian Automobile Plant, BelAZ, which is a holding company for MVZ, has already approved the investment project on increasing the production facilities from 20,000 to 30,000 m2.
This enlargement is needed to satisfy a gradually boosting demand for the rolling stock from MVZ. As Mr. Basharimov states, “while the plant’s annual output was 700 cars just a few years ago, last year, it was already 2,000 vehicles, and this year we’re going to reach a total of 2,500 cars”.
This year’s backlog of orders is full. The main portion, 70% of the freight cars produced, is intended for the domestic market, including Belarusian Railway and Gomel Chemical Plant.
Among the manufacturer’s most popular products, there are general-purpose gondola cars, cement and grain hopper wagons. Thus, the general-purpose 12-9954 gondola car has been recently certified, as well as the two-axle 25 tf 18-9855 bogies for these vehicles.
In 2026, MVZ also plans to commence serial production of box cars with an increased carrying capacity. Meanwhile, this year the plant suspended the acquired in 2023 certificates for the 19-6739 hopper and the 13-9832-01 flatcar for timber transportation.
