Recent deals and tenders in the freight rolling stock markets.

Georgia — Georgian Railway (GR) has issued a tender for the supply of 120 gondola cars at an expected cost of GEL 20.1 mln (USD 7.4 mln). The tender requirements call for wagons with a service life of at least 22 years and a payload of 69 t, implying that the customer will consider 23.5 tf gondola cars and the 18-100 bogies. The tender results are due to be announced on 12 December.

Netherlands, Germany — Turkish Gök Rail is supplying freight cars to leasing companies. In particular, the Dutch Railrelease has received 20 Rens container flatcars. A fleet of 60-foot container flatcars of type Sgns is also being delivered to GATX. The size of this batch is not disclosed. GATX leases the wagons to Fracht Group, a Swiss logistics company, which deals with transportation of pipes in Germany.

Kazakhstan — ZMK will deliver 87 dump cars to Kazakhstan. The Engels plant and the Eurasian Resources Group have signed the relevant memorandum valued at $15 mln. The delivery of the rolling stock for operation at the Kachar quarry (Kazakhstan) is scheduled for the first half of 2026.

Russia — ZSK Kuban has once again received a certificate for the 12-3235 gondola cars to implement a particular order. The certificate has been granted through November 2026 for a limited batch of 157 such wagons under a contract with an unknown customer signed in June 2025. For the first time, the 12-3235 model was certified for serial production this June over a 12-month period, and the initial batch was determined as 5,000 units, according to the manufacturer. The wagon features a payload of 70 t and a body volume of 85 m3.

Ukraine — Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) has produced 20 hopper wagons at its own facilities. The freight cars have enlarged the fleet of the infrastructure division of the national operator. Designed for an axle load of 23.5 tf, the four-axle wagons have a load capacity of 69 t and a volume of 41 m3. A further 30 units are expected to be manufactured by the end of the year. As noted by Oleksii Kuleba, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration, such wagons were previously imported from Russia.
