Recent deals and tenders in the freight car market.

Türkiye — Türasas plans to build 100 piggyback wagons this year. The articulated Sdggmrs-type wagons have a payload of 100 t. In addition to semi-trailers, they can also carry various heavy-duty containers. Rolling stock of this kind has not previously been produced in the country. The prototypes are currently undergoing testing.

Poland, Germany — Nymwag has delivered 38 tank wagons and 24 hopper wagons, and is fulfilling an order for a further 48 hoppers. Zacns 88-type tank wagons have been handed over to Polish refining group Orlen. They have a payload of 69.2 t and a tank volume of 88 m³. The Faccns 49-type hoppers, in turn, have a payload of 68 t and a body volume of 49 m³. They are being supplied to German operator ITL (part of the Captrain logistics company).

Poland — Freight operators PCC Intermodal and Silva LS have each acquired 100 container flat wagons. Their manufacturers have not been disclosed. The purchase was co-financed under Poland’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan KPO. The total cost of the 80-foot container flat wagons for PCC Intermodal was €14.5 mln, of which EU funding accounted for €5.9 mln.

India — Jupiter Wagons has signed a contract to supply freight wagons to Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC). Under the contract with the state-owned company, 32 BLSS-A-type container flat wagons, 352 BLSS-B-type container flat wagons and eight specialised wagons are to be delivered. The purchase is worth INR 1.4 bln (€13.1 mln). Production of the rolling stock is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Ukraine — Agricultural holding Continental Farmers Group has acquired 100 grain hoppers. The manufacturer and model of the wagons have not been disclosed. The company states that the hoppers have a body volume of 116 m³ and a payload of 70.5 t. These specifications match the 19-7053-01 and 19-7053-02 grain hopper models produced by the Krukiv Railway Car Building Works. Following the purchase, Continental Farmers Group’s total fleet has grown to 350 grain hoppers.
