Recent deals and tenders in the freight car market.
Russia — RM Rail hands over the first batch of 100 tank cars to Rusagro. The rolling stock is being supplied as part of the agribusiness holding’s investment project to develop logistics infrastructure. A total of 500 tank cars are due to join the company’s wagon fleet by April 2026. Their model has not been disclosed. The stated 69 t payload matches the 15-1219 tank car with 23.5 tf axleload, one modification of which is designed for vegetable oil transport.
Kazakhstan — Kazakhstan Temir Zholy plans to procure 1,373 container flatcars this year. Deputy Transport Minister Zhanibek Taizhanov made the announcement at an expanded session of the Ministry of Transport board. According to ROLLINGSTOCK analysts, Kazakhstan’s container flatcar fleet stood at 13,900 units at the start of 2026.

Germany — Nymwag completes production of 95 Faccns 49 hoppers for leasing firm Ermewa, which will operate the fleet together with German freight operator HHPI. The wagons have a 68 t payload and 49 m³ body volume.
USA — FreightCar America (FCA) forecasts delivery of 4,000 to 4,500 freight cars to customers in 2026. The company gave this guidance in its financial report for last year. Deliveries for 2025 totalled 4,125 wagons against 4,362 units in 2024.
Poland — Kolowag supplies LTG Cargo Polska with 72 flatcars for transport of containers and semi-trailers. The contract between the Lithuanian freight operator LTG Cargo’s subsidiary and the Bulgarian manufacturer was signed in summer 2025. The project is co-funded under Poland’s National Recovery Plan KPO.

Sweden — Tatravagonka begins production of 400 flatcars for leasing firm VTG. Fitted with disc brakes, the Sgmmns(s) 40′ container flatcars are designed for 20-, 30- and 40-ft containers. Their payload is 72.5 t with 22.5 tf axleload. VTG will lease these wagons to Swedish steel producer SSAB.
Ukraine — Krukiv Railway Car Building Works (KRCBW) sold 125 freight wagons over the first three quarters of last year. Data for the fourth quarter has not yet been published. In 2024, the plant sold 1,096 freight wagons. For full-year 2025, KRCBW reported a loss of UAH 124.6 mln ($2.8 mln), compared to a profit of UAH 81.1 mln ($1.8 mln) in 2024. The loss is planned to be covered from future period profits.
