Recent deals and tenders in the freight car market.
Russia — In 2025, the State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK) granted on lease and rented over 15,500 wagons (a 42% increase to 2024). Supported by VEB, Russia’s economic development institution, the leasing company has completed the delivery of 266 refrigerated boxcars for Refservice-Vostok. GTLK also received contracts for 12,000 rolling stock units in 2025, which is 26% less than in 2024.
Brazil — Randon has been awarded a large order for cellulose wagons for Arauco Brasil. The size of the batch has not been unveiled. The rolling stock valued at BRL 770 mln ($146.3 mln) will be manufactured at the Brazilian manufacturer’s site in Araraquara and delivered from May 2026 to November 2027.

Spain — 399 intermodal wagons from the leasing company VTG arrived in the country. The batch consists of 80- and 90-foot container flatcars, including Slovakian Tatravagonka’s T4000 articulated pocket wagons, which can transport all types of semi-trailers up to 15.1 m. The fleet is intended for the Iberian gauge lines of 1,668 mm. The procurement is worth over €75 mln and financed with a €37 mln grant.
Brazil — The logistics company Rumo has received a loan of BRL 350 mln ($66.5 mln) from BNDES, the National Bank for Economic and Social Development. The financing will be allocated to the purchase of 160 tank cars and 6 hybrid locomotives. The fleet renewal is expected to drive the growth of biofuel transportation (mainly corn ethanol) in the Central-West Region of Brazil.
India — Texmaco Rail has secured two contracts for the supply of the double-deck ACT1 autorack wagons and specialised brake vans. The number of the ordered freight cars is not disclosed. The contract signed with IVC Logistics and worth INR 622 mln ($6.8 mln) is due to be completed in August, as is the other one concluded with APL Logistics Vascor and valued at INR 640 mln ($7 mln).

Uzbekistan — The Andijan Mechanical Plant (AMP), part of the national operator Uzbekistan Temir Yollari, has launched production of tank cars that will be used for hydrochloric acid transportation by Navoiyazot. The rolling stock manufacturer and the local chemical company have earlier signed a memorandum for the delivery of 20 such tank cars by the end of 2026. Last year, AMP received approval for a modification of the 15-9724-06 tank car for hydrochloric acid transportation.

Ukraine — Two tank car models from the Krukiv Railway Car Building Works (KRCBW) have been included in the experimental state support programme. According to the order of the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy, purchasers of these wagons may claim back a 15% compensation of their value (excluding VAT) from the state budget. The compensation is applied to the 15-7140 tank car for vegetable oils and the 15-7076 for petroleum products. The programme has been in force since September 2024 and concerns equipment and vehicles produced with a minimum localisation level of 40%. The state support is provided in light of the cancellation of service life restrictions for freight cars.
