Netherlands — The Ministry of Defence has ordered 75 container flatcars from Greenbrier Europe. Deliveries began in December 2024 and are expected to be completed by mid-January 2025. The 71 t flatcars are designed to carry containers, equipment and machinery on special pallets.

Ukraine — Krukiv Railway Car Building Works sold 1,096 railcars in 2024. The company delivered 140 grain hoppers to LTG Cargo, Lithuania, while producing grain hoppers and tank cars for the domestic market. The significant decrease in freight car production in 2023 resulted in a loss of UAH 89 mln (about €2 mln) for the year.

Cambodia — CRRC has begun delivering 40-foot flatcars for 1000 mm gauge tracks to the country. According to the national operator Royal Railways, 96 of the 221 cars ordered were delivered last year. New 13.2 m long platforms, with a payload of 60 t, are designed to carry containers, heavy equipment and other cargo.

Ukraine — Dniprovagonmash will produce 252 40 foot container flatcars for Ukrzaliznytsia. The batch will include a new model, the 13-4155, with a payload of 73.5 t. The contract is worth UAH 707 mln including VAT (approx. €16 mln, or €64,000 per unit), with deliveries to be completed by the middle of 2025.

Germany — Gleisbaumechanik (GBM) is ordered the design and manufacture of up to 15 special flatcars for the Hamburg metro. A framework agreement, worth up to €18 mln, was inked with the local operator Hamburger Hochbahn for the LB8 multifunctional flatcars, which can simultaneously carry ISO and roll-off containers. According to Volker Keller, managing director at GBM, the first two flatcars will be delivered by the end of 2026. Previously, the company manufactured nine LB7 flatcars for the Hamburg metro.
