Ukraine: The announcement was made by Maksym Kozitsky, head of the Lviv regional military administration, during a visit to the plant.
However, no information was provided regarding the names of the components, now produced by the repair and mechanical plant.
According to him, Karpaty developed five grain hopper models with a welded centre sill in 2023. Now, 75% of its orders for freight cars to be delivered to Ukraine are for grain hoppers.
This year, the US agency for international development USAID has placed an order for 300 grain hoppers, representing 45% of its annual output. Mr. Kozitsky notes that the plant is capable of producing up to three cars of new models per day.
Last year, Karpaty produced 567 cars, which is a 5% increase in comparison to the previous year. The plant’s overall output is approximately 5,000 grain hoppers of various models.
