Italy: The joint venture of MSC, container shipping company, and Innofreight, logistics company, unveiled its development plan for the plant in Trieste, Italy. The site previously belonged to Finnish Wärtsilä, marine engine manufacturer.
By 2027, the plant’s capacity is planned to be increased to 1,000 freight cars and 3,000 bogies per year. To date, 255 redundant workers from Wärtsilä have been absorbed, the reconstruction of the site has started. The future production is reported to be highly automated. Branch lines will be built for €15 mln with the Italian state support.
The type Sggrss four-axle 80 ft container flatcars will be produced first. The heading toward production Innobogie freight bogie was unveiled for the first time as well. As reported, among its advantages are lower weight, reduced wear of wheel sets and possible adaptation for different gauges, however the exact technical parameters were not disclosed.
