Austria: PJM, the local system specialist for rail vehicles, states that it has completed all the necessary steps needed for the approval of the InnoBogie.
It is designed by the Austrian logistics company Innofreight on the basis of the Y25 bogie, which is a conventional model used in Europe since the 1960s and featuring an axle load of 22.5 tf.

The new frame construction is reported to be 5% lighter compared to the traditional Y25 design. According to the developers, the weight reduction can increase the waggon’s payload by 400 kg. Additional advantages include less wear on wheelsets and better braking performance. Moreover, the bogie can be fully manufactured by welding robots and has a service life of more than 40 years.
The InnoBogie will be produced at the car-manufacturing plant in Trieste, Italy, by the JV of Innofreight and MSC, a container shipping operator. By 2027, they plan to reach a production capacity of 3,000 bogies annually.
