Germany: Last year, the Austrian logistics company conducted a test operation of its new solution in Dillingen.

Innofreight suggests transporting scrap materials in the 30-foot MonTainer XXXML containers carried by the articulated flatcars InnoWaggon of the company’s own design. The container has showcased its ability to handle various types of scrap metal, including shredded and baled.

The solution is reported to enable a 45% increase in payload in comparison with conventional transport methods, and also a 42% increase in load volume per 600 m train.

The new container is loaded with a crane, while the unloading process is performed by means of a special forklift. The design of the container and the forklift make it possible to empty a single container in 90 seconds. The forklift can process a total of 600 t of materials per hour.
