Poland, Germany: Greenbrier Europe began testing of the GB25RS bogies using BOX E06A gondola cars in both countries.

The car dynamics, load status, speed, temperature, and other parameters are registered by sensors, images show telematics by Amsted Rail. The data is then transmitted for analysis to the plant in Swidnica, Poland. The main aim of the tests is to evaluate wheel wear of the GB25RS bogies compared with the standard for Europe Y25 bogies, with an axle load of 22.5 tf.

The first step of the two-axle GB25RS bogie’s tests took place on Sggrrs flatcars in Austria in 2019–2022. These bogies are fitted with radially steered wheelsets to improve the passing of curves and have a maximum speed of 100 km/h.

Bogies with an axle load of 25 tf have been long implemented, for example, in Russia. A total of 18.1% of the fleet currently operated by the national operator Russian Railways, or 250,900 cars, can boast such an axle load.
