EU: GATX Rail Europe, a subsidiary of the leasing company GATX, has unveiled the renderings and drawings of the four-axle Slnps flatcar. The rolling stock is intended for transporting sleepers to railway infrastructure construction and repair sites across Europe.

The new vehicle with a 26 t tare weight features a payload of 64 t and a useful loading length of 18.5 m. Loading and unloading are conducted with gantry cranes. For this purpose, the railcar is fitted with a slide rail system. The height of the slide rails can be adjusted between 1,375 mm and 1,470 mm, making the flatcar compatible with various freight-handling solutions.

The stanchions at the railcar ends are fixed, while the four centre stanchions are foldable to ensure smoother operation and full-length loading capacity of the flatcar. The vehicle is able to transport 180 sleepers in three layers or 168 sleepers in four layers.
